Who new losing your point and shoot camera would lead to something so spectacular! When I was about ten years old I lost my point and shoot camera while on a singing tour. After telling my parents the horrible news, along with grounding me they also got the insurance to pay out and it was actually enough too buy a rather decent DSLR camera. Although it wasn't the best camera it was quite versatile. Since then i was pretty hooked on taking the best pictures I could with homemade props and equipment. Although it may seem a bit harder at first at least this way every project is a challenge. Also, having to make your own low-cost equiptment or use whatever materials you have around you in some way tests your knowledge of the art as you then have to understand the inner workings and physics of photography in order to make the shot work and adjust your camera settings to fit your conditions homemade props and not just mimic photoshoots and camera settings off the internet, don't be afraid to experiment but most of all don't be afraid to fail. All artists have those bad days where nothing goes our way and if something doesn't work out the first time just try a different and fresh approach. Nothing worthwhile is ever easily obtained (true story). The key to photography is persistence and perseverance.
